Run paper-pen exams remotely — without losing the audit trail.
For exams that need to be hand-written on physical paper (board exams, descriptive papers, hand-drawn diagrams), Vacademy gives you a download-question / write-on-paper / upload-photo / grade-on-PDF workflow with timestamps, plagiarism flags, and branded report cards.
- Download paper · solve offline · upload photo
- PDF-evaluation tool with annotations + rubric
- Timestamped upload + audit trail
- Bulk grade with keyboard shortcuts
Handwriting + content 91% similar to submission #14 → flagged for review
Why teams switch
The status quo is costing your team time and money
Some exams just need pen-and-paper
Board exam descriptive papers, hand-drawn diagrams in physics / biology / engineering, calligraphy, mathematical proof writing — these can't be typed. But your LMS forces typing.
Email + WhatsApp submissions are an audit nightmare
Without a structured submission flow, learners email papers, mentors print and grade by hand, results live in a spreadsheet. Re-grading appeals become unresolvable.
PDF grading tools (Acrobat, GoodNotes) are slow at scale
Grading 200 PDF papers in Acrobat means 200 file-opens, 200 score-typing sessions, 200 re-saves. There's no rubric, no keyboard shortcuts, no auto-mailed report card.
Inside the PDF evaluator
Upload + rubric grading + annotation tools
Multi-page handwritten upload, rubric scoring, annotation toolkit, and integrity flags — all in the same workspace.

How a paper-pen exam runs
From download to graded report card — fully tracked
Vacademy wraps the offline workflow with online structure: learners download the paper, write by hand, upload a photo / scan, you grade on PDF, system mails the report card.
Schedule + download window
Set the exam window (e.g. 10 AM start, 3-hour duration). At start time, learners can download the question paper as PDF; the download is logged with timestamp.
Learner solves offline
Learner solves on physical paper at home / in centre. No on-screen restriction; learners use paper, math instruments, draw diagrams freely.
Upload answer sheets
At end of window, learners upload phone-camera photos / scanner PDFs of all pages. Auto-stitched into a single PDF; upload time is timestamped and locked.
PDF evaluation + report card
Graders open the PDF in Vacademy's PDF evaluation tool — annotate, score per rubric criterion, mark errors, write feedback. Branded report cards auto-publish.
What's inside
Paper-based assessment, fully structured
Time-windowed download
Paper PDF available only inside the exam window. Download timestamp logged per learner. Late starts impact total time available.
Multi-page photo upload
Learners upload phone photos page-by-page (or scanner PDFs). Auto-stitch into single submission PDF. Re-upload locked after exam window closes.
PDF evaluation tool
Annotate, highlight, strike-through, mark per-criterion score, write inline feedback. Built into the LMS — no exporting to Adobe Acrobat needed.
Rubric-driven grading
Configure rubric per paper (criteria + weights + scoring bands). Graders click criteria scores; total auto-computes. AI Auto-Evaluation suggestions assist on rubric items.
Keyboard-shortcut bulk grading
Speed-grade 200 papers with keyboard shortcuts — score, advance, score, advance. No mouse-only workflow that kills evaluator productivity.
Submission integrity flags
Auto-flag suspiciously identical handwriting + content patterns. Compare submissions across cohort for academic-integrity concerns.

Frequently asked
Common questions from buyers
Can learners submit from their phones?+−
Yes — phone-camera multi-page photo upload is the default. Vacademy auto-rotates, sharpens, and stitches pages into a single PDF. Scanner PDFs are also supported. No app install required.
What about cheating during the offline window?+−
We can't prevent it entirely (you're not in the room), but we mitigate: shuffled paper variants, plagiarism detection across cohort, time-window enforcement, and optional camera-on monitoring for high-stakes exams.
Can multiple graders work on the same paper?+−
Yes. Multi-grader workflow with split-by-criterion (e.g. grader A handles math criteria, grader B handles essay criteria) or split-by-paper. Final score is computed from each grader's contribution.
What about hand-written math evaluations?+−
AI Auto-Evaluation provides 'suggested score' even for hand-written math (via Mathpix OCR + answer matching). Final scoring is grader-decided; AI is assistive, not authoritative.
Can the PDF evaluation tool annotate, highlight, strike-through?+−
Yes — full annotation toolkit: highlight, strike-through, freehand pen, rectangle, text, comment, score-stamp. Annotations are saved with the PDF and visible in the learner's report card.
